New Upstart Desking FAQs

1. What are the main benefits and new features of new Upstart Desking?

The new enhancements allow you to desk deals in half the time with a simpler adjustment process, a redesigned user interface, and an optimized math stack. New features include multiple down payments, and clear visibility into backend profit. These improvements help you close deals faster and with greater accuracy.

2. How do I access deals in new Upstart Desking?

You will continue accessing deals from the Command Center at autoretail.upstart.com. The navigation tabs, which were previously on the left, are now located at the top of the screen for quicker access to Active In-store, Online, or a combination of deals, filtered by date range.

3. What changes were made to the deal layout?

Once you enter a deal, you’ll see new tabs on the left side:

  • Desking – This is where payment options are created.

  • Credit – The tab where the credit application can be modified and submitted.

  • Financing – Displays finance offers for users with Upstart financing enabled.

  • Documents – Allows viewing and modifying deal pack documents without needing to access In-store.

  • History & Notes – Contains the online opportunity, record changes made to the pencils, and is the place to communicate with the Sales Consultant.

4. How has the Vehicle Pricing area been improved?

Vehicle Pricing in new Upstart Desking is more efficient. Changes you make apply to all payment types at once, reducing the number of clicks and saving time.

5. Can I easily adjust trade-ins?

Yes, the trade-in process has been simplified. You can enter trade-in values or add an additional trade-in in the same section, making it faster and more efficient.

6. What’s new in the math stack?

The math stack now displays vehicle information and buying types all on one page without having to navigate between the various buying types. A dropdown menu lets you easily switch between buying types. You can also duplicate or remove pencils using the icons. Within APR you can now see the buy rate and markups. In Protection Plans, you will see the profit, as well.

7. What does "Push to CRM" and "DMS" do?

Push to CRM sends the deal data to your CRM system, and Push to DMS pushes the information to your dealership’s DMS. Both options are located in the

(ellipses) menu.

8. What are the new cash down options?

You can now set up three different cash down options for both finance and lease deals. The default, Cash Down A, is typically 10% of the selling price depending on what your dealership requested, but you can add two additional options to customize the deal for your customer.

9. How do I adjust APR or Money Factor in new Upstart Desking?

The APR / Money Factor section now shows the buy rate along with an option to add a markup. To adjust rebates or incentives, select Open.

10. Can I modify the days to the first payment?

Yes, you can adjust the number of days to the first payment for both finance and lease deals, or you can apply the change to specific pencils.

11. How do I view the Total Gross?

Expand the Total Gross section to see front-end and back-end gross totals. This view helps you get a clear picture of the deal's profitability.

12. How do I send payment options to the salesperson or customer?

Once all payment options are prepared, you can select the new Upstart Desking Menu to:

  • Send the pencil to a salesperson

  • Open the Showroom view to display the payment options to a customer on your device

  • Access the Print/Send feature to share the deal details via PDF or by directing the customer to view their deal online

13. Will new Upstart Desking have more updates in the future?

Yes, in a future release, you will be able to switch to a one-pay lease option. There will be more enhancements to look forward to in the near future.

14. How do these updates impact overall efficiency?

The improvements in navigation, simplified adjustments, and clearer deal structuring make new Upstart Desking faster and more intuitive, helping you work smarter and close deals more efficiently.

15. What do the payments look like to the customer when working the deal within the In-Store application?

The Ownership Options screen has been updated to show multiple down payment options to match the new Upstart Desking tool. This 3x3 grid can be customized with a mix of finance, lease, and cash options.

16. Where do I find the toggle for “Show Payment Range”?

It is located in the Desking Menu in the upper right of the Desking screen.
